Our History

WHERE IT
ALL STARTED

AFES groups have been gathering on university campuses for over 90 years. Founded by students for students, these local Christian groups continue to meet regularly to investigate the Bible, share the good news of Jesus, and support each other in their faith.

Our presence at ACU

The AFES group Evangelicals on Campus (EOC) was formed through the faithful eagerness of university students who were keen to meet to read the Bible just over 10 years ago. Strathfield was the first to form a student club, ably supported by some local churches who partnered by sending ministry apprentices to train and encourage students.

A few years later, some North Sydney students, inspired by the group at Strathfield, gathered some students on campus and were able to form a club.

God has grown the reach on both campuses through the growing conviction of students to share the gospel, be trained and sent out with the good news on campus and beyond.

Since 2024, EOC has been two campuses combined as one ministry with the same mission of prayerfully proclaiming Jesus Christ at ACU North Sydney and Strathfield to make and mature disciples of Jesus!

THE HISTORY
OF AFES

The history of AFES is rooted in the belief that community is essential for spiritual growth. Founded to support students in their faith journey, AFES encourages connections among believers through campus groups, local church events, and informal gatherings. By fostering relationships with like-minded individuals, AFES enriches the university experience, making it more meaningful and impactful. Together, we can navigate our faith journeys and support one another in our growth.
